It’s obvious that everyone behind the scenes at the Trash Pandas has worked diligently to plan for and provide a super enjoyable experience for all throughout the game, whether one enjoys watching baseball itself or not. Though I enjoyed watching the game itself (just so darn happy for these players that are getting to do what they love!), I really enjoyed all of the extra on-field entertainment throughout the night. It had been a while since we’d stood in a crowd at an event like this with our hands over our hearts and heard the National Anthem sung, and it felt good to back enjoying a moment like this in an environment that felt “normal”. We both agreed that one of our favorite moments from the evening was when the National Anthem was sung by Ms. Once we had our food, we settled into our seats and got ready to watch some baseball. Neither of us actually finished our food because the portions were large! My meal was $10. I ordered a Mint Julep Chicken Sandwich which is described as a grilled chicken patty marinated in bourbon and mint. We landed at the Gravity Grille (semi behind home plate), and though the line looked daunting, it moved rapidly. We are big, big Champy’s fans, but I personally wanted to branch out and try somewhere different to eat. The stadium is entirely cashless, so we used our debit card for all of our purchases. His sandwich and fries were $12, a 32 oz beer was $11 (or $6 for a 16 oz.), and a canned spiked lemonade of sorts was $10. We waited about 10 minutes in the Champy’s line, where my husband ordered a fried chicken sandwich, fries, and a couple of adult beverages for us. With roughly 30 minutes until the first pitch, we had our sites set on dinner. We brought very little with us to the game since there is a strict “clear bags only” policy, so we emptied our pockets before going through the metal detectors and then breezed right in. Plus, every Wednesday dogs are invited to come into the stadium and hang with their owners on the green space (nearish to the outfield along the first baseline), so we enjoyed standing in line and admiring dogs of all breeds and sizes that also seemed excited about their outing. We didn’t mind waiting in line though as the energy was already high Everyone appeared to be light-hearted and excited about going to the game, and seeing a community all united in Trash Pandas apparel was awesome. We were soon greeted by the sight of long lines to get into the stadium itself, but they moved swiftly (we waited 15 minutes max). We now have the CLUTCH! app, which allows ticket holders to purchase pre-paid parking passes at a discounted $6. We paid $10 via our debit card but won’t do that again. We’d both heard that there was an app one can download in order to secure parking passes ahead of time, but we failed to do so since we were mostly flying by the seat of our pants for this first game after extremely busy days. Thankfully it looks and sounds like improvements to the traffic situation were made extremely fast after opening night one (Bravo, Trash Pandas!), allowing for a super pleasant entry and exit situation for guests. We had heard and read all about the chaos of parking on opening night the night prior (it took some people upwards of two hours to go two miles to get anywhere close to parking), so we knew we wanted to get there with plenty of time to settle in. and flew straight to the parking attendant with zero problems.Ĭonsidering this was just under an hour ahead of the first pitch at 6:35 p.m., we were really happy with our timing. We live in Madison near-ish to County Line Road, so we took County Line to I-565 and headed east to the new ramp. Our First Rocket City Trash Pandas Baseball Game Experience Last night my husband and I attended the second ever Rocket City Trash Pandas minor league baseball game against the Tennessee Smokies and enjoyed it immensely! If attending a game is on your radar, here’s a rundown of our experience as first-timers. In doing so, McEnany has destroyed her own personal credibility and fatally injured her ability to speak for the President, and more importantly, for the United States of America. Woodward can't be blamed for withholding revelations about Trump's early handling of the pandemic (Photo by Michael Kovac/Getty Images) Michael Kovac/Getty Images LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 07: Bob Woodward attends 'A Morning With Bob Woodward' at American Jewish University on Apin Los Angeles, California. By claiming otherwise, McEnany reneged on the promise she made to reporters on her first day as press secretary when she said she would never lie to them. The President has repeatedly lied to the American people about the coronavirus and the government’s handling of the pandemic. When asked directly if the President had lied to the American public, McEnany had the gall to say, “The President has never lied to the American public on Covid.” Only then can the American public trust that the President is looking out for their interests, not just his own. She also tried to pass off Trump’s comments as a sign of good leadership, saying, “So this President does what leaders do … stay calm and resolute at a time when you face an unsurmountable challenge.” But real leadership is telling the truth and taking responsibility for it. Instead, she perpetuated the lies even the President himself admitted to Woodward on tape. She did not provide context for Trump’s statements. McEnany failed on an epic scale in her response. (Photo by Doug Mills-Pool/Getty Images) Pool/Getty Images North America/Getty Images Trump also fielded questions about the coronavirus and Bob Woodward's new book about him. President Donald Trump reveals his list of potential Supreme Court nominees in the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House on Septemin Washington, DC. I still like playing it down, because I don’t want to create a panic.” Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany faced her moment of reckoning in the briefing room on Wednesday, when reporters confronted her about the recordings, released by veteran journalist Bob Woodward, in which President Trump acknowledged in early February that the coronavirus was airborne and deadlier than the flu, even as he publicly dismissed concerns about the virus and called it the Democrats’ “new hoax.” In March, Trump told Woodward that he intentionally downplayed the dangers of the virus, saying, “I always wanted to play it down. Not knowing the full extent of what had happened, I chose not to contest the details in the report from the podium even though for many that seemed to be a confirmation of the allegations. As the House opened impeachment hearings on then-President Bill Clinton based on the Starr report, I was faced with the daily decision of how to answer questions about the President’s behavior. I faced my own test early in my tenure as press secretary. It begs the question: What’s more important, telling the truth or protecting lives? Jody Powell faced that decision under Jimmy Carter and decided saving lives trumped telling the press the truth during the Iranian hostage crisis. There are, for example, times when releasing the operational details of the military puts lives at risk. Choosing when to take a stand, and what to reveal to the public are not always straightforward decisions. I didn’t know there was an expectation for him to pick the Black Panther movement up and become the new leader.ĪP: Was the title “Dear Mama” an easy choice? But my poorness pales in comparison to Tupac’s poverty and not knowing where your next meal is going to come from throughout your adolescence. I come from welfare in the worst parts of Detroit being just poor. And why she struggled with addiction post with that whole thing happening with the Panthers and then being dismantled by the FBI. Anything in the film about her in the Panther 21 case trial that they were going to be sent way for 360 years for allegedly plotting to bomb all these places in and around New York City and her defending herself. I knew she had an addiction difficulties and challenges that she overcame. That’s when I definitely knew I made the right decision.ĪP: What new did you learn about Afeni while filming the project? I’m like, “What is this?” And they go, “Your address is yards away from where we put Tupac’s ashes.” That’s when I got goosebumps. In the meeting, when I went back to accept the assignment, one of the people from the estate slid an address in a piece of paper over to me. HUGHES: I was standing on Malibu Beach and I’m walking. I think maybe with the trauma from being completely obliterated by 10-15 guys, it just took a lot.ĪP: What was your clinching factor to do this project? But I’ve been in fist fights with my brother and recovered. No, you should never take it to the level of violence, whatever the misunderstanding is. I’ve since seen all the audio visuals with him saying he was remorseful about it, which I never knew existed. I wish I was man enough to have connected with him at the time. First of all, I saw the apology in real time. HUGHES: It took a few years for me to get over it. The estate and family were down with that.ĪP: How did you get over that altercation? But once I realized that there wasn’t enough about Tupac that I didn’t realize, it might be better to explore him through his mother and make it a dual narrative. It takes a lot out of you doing documentaries too - especially if you do it over the course of a few years, like we did this one. HUGHES: I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do it because of obvious personal reasons. The five-part docuseries explores how the mother-son duo of Tupac and Afeni Shakur shaped American history. It took Hughes some time, but he finally stopped holding onto his deep-seated resentment a few years ago when Shakur’s estate approached him to direct a documentary called “Dear Mama,” which premieres Friday on FX and will stream the following the day on Hulu. After the dispute, Shakur was convicted and served about two weeks in jail. LOS ANGELES (AP) - Filmmaker Allen Hughes thought participating in any Tupac Shakur project was a farfetched idea especially after surviving a brutal altercation involving him and the rap legend three decades ago.įor years, Hughes firmly held a grudge even after a public apology from Shakur - who along with nearly a dozen gang members in 1993 physically attacked the filmmaker for firing the rapper from the cult classic “Menace II Society.” He along with his brother Albert Hughes had previously directed Shakur’s “Brenda’s Got a Baby” music video in 1990s. I am also trying to add veggies in other ways to get my kids to eat more so I added spinach to this dish. I simply love absolutely anything that’s lemony. If you want even more lemon flavor you can add some lemon zest too. I added 3 tablespoons of lemon juice because it felt just right to me. The amount of lemon juice can also be adjusted according to your taste. The liquid may also seem like a lot at first but remember pasta absorbs a lot of it. If it is over cooked then you will have stringy chicken. Also remember if you are using chicken breasts, never over cook them. I also love loads of flavor in my dishes so it’s why I prefer frying my own chicken, then I can add whatever I like. But it really is not that difficult to fry the chicken. You can use some rotisserie chicken for this dish, if you really want to make life easy. It looks like rice, only the grains are larger. But you will find it by the name of Rosmarino Pasta. Most supermarkets stock it but you may not always find it by that name. Would love to hear what the major differences are if you do try my recipes at a lower altitude so would appreciate your feedback. The amount of liquid I use could also be more than what you would use at sea level. I live at high altitude so my pasta does take a little longer to cook. You do have to keep an eye on it to ensure the pasta doesn’t stick to the pot. There’s not much fussing over this dish and that suits me just fine. It’s a quick and easy dish to prepare, made in 30 minutes. It’s absolute comfort in a bowl and I love anything with Pasta.Īlthough for me it’s everything in moderation these days. This One Pot Paprika Lemon Chicken with Orzo is a creamy, delicious dish with a hint of lemon. That way I don’t have to slave over a stove. That’s my plan, to cook everything in 30 minutes or less or alternatively it goes into the oven. I really don’t have a lot of time to do all the stuff I want to so I have to find a way to make life easier. I am hoping to create a whole list of one-pot dishes to make life easier this Winter. The weather is cooler, that means more comfort food and the waistline may increase a few inches…Lol! One Pot Paprika Lemon Chicken with Orzo is so delicious you probably won’t even give that waistline a thought. They are also prone to problems such as broken latches and bent hinges, which makes the door impossible to close. However, they are cheaply made in foreign countries and poorly designed. The standard white louvered filter grilles are a low cost solution to your problem. You’ll be amazed and a little grossed out by all the dust build up in your return air ducts. If you are not sure you need to convert to a filter grille, just remove your old return air grille to inspect all the dust that has attached to your ducts leading back to the air handler. More and more homes are being converted to filter grilles from the older return air grille with the filter located in your HVAC air handler. Filter grilles keep your return air ducts dust free so you don’t need them professionally cleaned every other year for $400 or so. It comes in 3 styles, 12 Finishes and 31 different filter grille sizes. You will love the way it looks and performs. Such cleaning can also lead to a system functioning with less noise, as a clogged filter can increase the noise level, because of the greater strain placed on the blowers and fans.Replace your white louvered filter grille with our magnetic quick change filter grille. As a matter of fact, it is best to ensure that all grills, whether supply or return, are kept clear and allowed to function as they are designed.Ī return air grill and its filter needs to maintained and cleaned at least once every quarter. It is necessary that the space around such grills be kept free of any obstruction, as this can affect the entire system. A return air grill looks very much like the supply side grills and can only be detected with the direction of the air flow in front of the grill. Such filters can have increased ratings which in turn can reduce allergens and dust and thus make the circulated air more healthy. The filters in a way also help to reduce air flow and thus help improve efficiency. It is considered very necessary to use filters over such grills, which in turn can lead to higher efficiency in cooling or heating. These require to be covered by a grill that will ensure that duct is protected. This can also in the long run reduce the amount of cleaning required for ducts.ĭucts for returning air are located at floor level or in the walls depending on the design of the system. A return air grill also has a filter mounted on it to trap particulate matter and thus ensure that the recirculated air is more pure. They also act to close off the ducts from view. A return air grill will cover such ducts, and can also act to regulate the flow of air. This is done normally through return ducts which allow the air to be recirculated or completely vented to the outside in certain cases. This increases the air pressure in the conditioned area and at some time will act to even prevent any further air from entering unless a circulating system is set up to relieve the pressure. The openings that connect to ducts and other spaces for the returning air are normally covered with grillwork.Įvery cooling or heating system will have air being pushed though into rooms and spaces through a system of ducts. A return air grill connects to ductwork that allows air to return to any cooling or heating system. Creswick did indeed draw from nature, doing many of his sketches and some finished paintings en plein air, a rare enough approach in those days.Īlthough most of his paintings were of rocky glens and pastoral river scenes in England and Wales, he travelled to Ireland and visited many of the famous beauty spots then becoming favourites with British tourists. The only other landscape artist Ruskin praised was Turner. Whatever about his personality, his skill as a painter was never in question, and drew high (and rare) praise from Ruskin for his attention to detail and his ability of draw directly ‘from nature’. Creswick’s detractors made much of his unkempt appearance and reputed aversion to soap and water, nicknaming him ‘the big unwashed’. Other landscape artists, in particular, accused him of exerting his influence amongst the Academicians to exclude his rivals from the institution. Creswick’s larger-than-life character was not universally appreciated. Frith’s daughter recalled a ‘festive, rollicking and amusing’ man whose conversation was peppered with swearwords and who ‘was too fond of both food and drink to be always in the best of health’. However, this portrayal is at odds with many accounts of Creswick’s appearance and personality. This tasteful portrait, composed in muted tones, certainly depicts a man of benevolent appearance and dignified bearing. William Powell Frith counted Creswick as one of his best friends, describing him as ‘good nature personified’. However, the painting, on the Royal Academy website, is accompanied by a pen-portrait which is less complimentary than the painting. He was painted at around this time by his friend William Powell Frith and the painting shows the same distinguished gentleman. Here he is as an older man, in a photograph from the British National Portrait Gallery ( used under license). His self portrait shows a darkly handsome young man, fashionably dressed and coiffed. Victorian loved their romantic landscapes and Creswick was a favourite, thanks in large part to the innovation of engraving, through which paintings could be reproduced in black and white and mass-produced. We mostly know Creswick’s Irish work through the engraving of his Irish landscapes for nineteenth century books on Ireland.įirst – who was Thomas Creswick? He was born in Sheffield in 1811, but is always associated with the Birmingham School of painters. I’m fascinated by how artists captured Ireland through the centuries and have recently discovered a new one – Thomas Creswick. |
